Create PR Batch form - any hints on setting a good BatchId?

you have up to 15 characters, most people use the Year as the start of the BatchId, followed by the Month and Day of the period ending date. For example, with period ending 04/15/2007, a BatchId might be 20070415. However, you may use whatever makes sense to you.

I don't understand what the payroll batch is for? It seems like an unnecessary step to me? I don't suppose you guys could get rid of it?

The payroll batch is an organized way of grouping your payroll. The alternative would be a bunch of loose timecards that are not grouped together in any way. We understand other programs do this (Quickbooks for instance), but using batches is a much more organized approach that will save you time in the long run. So, to answer your second question...no, we do not have any plans to enter timecards outside of a payroll batch.
