I need to be able issue items to jobs, but I don't want to keep track of the on hand quantity. When I add an inventory item to EZJOB and then try to issue that item to a job, the system tells me I don't have enough quantity. Is there a way to handle this?

Good question. We do allow this sort of thing. If you want to issue items to jobs, but you don't care to track them as actual inventory items, you need to modify the Inventory Item and uncheck the "Is Inventory Item" field on the item record. You should also enter the appropriate unit cost for the item in the "Unit Cost" field. Typically, we calculate unit cost based on the actual cost when you order the item; however, in your case (I'm assuming) you don't want to track ordering invidividual items within EZJOB? So you will need to set the unit cost manually as I described above. Hope this makes sense....if not, let me know.

We are half-way there! When you go to the Edit Inventory Items form, you should see a field called "Unit Cost". This is the cost that will be used for non-Inventory Items. I use the term non-Inventory Items when you uncheck the "Inventory Item" field. If you enter a cost into the Unit Cost field and then try to issue that item to a job, you should see the appropriate cost show up. Let me know.
