I am setting up my inventory items. Do I need to check the Inventory Item checkbox? Seems redundant, of course, it is an inventory item. Please advise.

Perhaps we could have named the field better.....but it is not, in fact, a redundant field. EZJOB uses that field to determine whether you expect the system to keep tight reigns on your inventory.

Meaning, if you check Inventory Item, the system will keep track of Qty On Hand, Qty On Order, Qty Backordered; you will not be able to issue items to jobs if you do not have the proper quantities on hand; you will need to do physical inventories regularly to make sure your inventory values are current.

If you uncheck the Inventory Item field, EZJOB will not keep track of the item with an iron fist. The system will not keep track of quantities, in fact you would simply use an inventory account to record all inventory purchases. You would then need to set a unit cost on the Edit Inventory Item form that will be used whenever you issue the item to a job.

I am glad you are using the Inventory system. I think you will find it very useful.

Hope that helps!
