okay, this might make me sound dumb, but what is an accounting period? it's mentioned everywhere throughout the help documentation and i know i have to set my period any time i enter anything. what is this for? from what I can tell, it's just the month i'm in.

You are right. The *Period* is the month and year you want affected by a set of general ledger transactions. EZJOB uses the *period* instead of the *transaction date* to group general ledger entries.
