I have saved a zillion subcontracts before, but for some reason EZJOB is telling me I can't save this one. I am getting an error saying I am trying add a duplicate cost code to the subcontract - but I am not trying to add a duplicate cost code. I am just trying to add a change order.....

I have seen this before and it is usually the result of accidentally adding a duplicate cost code when trying to add a change order to the current cost code. Make sure you double click the cost code in the grid you would like to add the change order to, then add the change order in the contract detail form for the current cost code.
I think you are probably using the Add button at the bottom of the form to add your change order. Let me know if that is the case.
Thanks, Tom

yeah, that was it. not sure why i didn't run into this before.
why do you let me add the cost code in the first place, if you're just going to tell me I can't save it later!!!!

Amy,
I am glad that solved your problem. To answer your question, we allow contracts to have any number of cost codes associated with them - but we do not allow duplicate cost codes. So, we have to allow you to enter more than one cost code if you need to do that.
You are right though, we should probably be more descriptive with our error message. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will make sure the next release contains more descriptive error messaging.
Thanks, Tom
