I am recording an invoice against a subcontract. I enter the subcontract number and the system creates a retainage entry for me in the invoice distribution. I understand why it's doing this because my subcontract states I need to retain 5%. However, I don't want to add retainage to this invoice. If I delete the retainage distribution, I get an "out of balance" error when trying to save. There has to be a way around this, right?

I think I know the problem. After you delete the retainage distribution, are you changing the retainage amount at the top of the screen, right under the Invoice Amount? If not, the you will be out of balance.

EZJOB not only creates the retainage distribution, but it also fills the retainage amount field for you - so you have to change it in two places.
